Cotopaxi: Exploring The Volcano Of The Andes

Your adventure begins early as you depart Quito and travel along the famous Avenue of the Volcanoes, a breathtaking route surrounded by mountains, valleys, and spectacular Andean scenery. Upon reaching Cotopaxi National Park, you`ll hike along its trails through high-altitude grasslands and pristine Andean wilderness until arriving at Limpiopungo Lagoon. Here, you can admire impressive views of Cotopaxi Volcano and capture unforgettable photographs.

Weather and operational conditions permitting, you can continue toward the higher areas of Cotopaxi. A vehicle can take you to the parking area of the José Rivas Refuge, located at approximately 4,800 meters above sea level. From there, you can hike to the refuge and experience the spectacular beauty of this high-mountain environment. (Optional visit)

After exploring Cotopaxi National Park and taking time to relax and enjoy the scenery, you`ll stop for lunch along the route (not included). You`ll then begin the return journey to Quito, traveling once again along the Avenue of the Volcanoes and bringing to an end a day filled with breathtaking landscapes and an authentic Andean adventure.
